Poll na Bruaich Ruaidhe is a swimmable pool in the Dé a short distance downstream from the confluence of the Laoigh with the Dé.
As a place name Poll na Bruaich Ruaidhe - means pool of the red bank, an apparent reference to the red-gravel ‘beach’ on the left-bank of the river.
Colloquial names for the pool include ‘Canadian’ a reference to the occupation of the ‘peninsula’ between the Dé, and Laoigh by the Canadian Forestry Corps during the war of 1939-1945.
