Letter to William, 1st Earl Fife

Before 1760, the soldiers stationed at the farm of An Dubh-bhruach in lower Gleann Dhé had been withdrawn with the effect, apparently, that cattle stealing began again.

In 1760, William, 1st Earl Fife wrote to Lord George Beauclerk, Commander-in-Chief, Scotland - asking him to send soldiers back to lower Gleann Dhé.

On the 30th of May 1769, Lord George Beauclerk replied to William, 1st Earl Fife, and we are fortunate that the letter was is preserved in MS 3175/Z/2 - the following is a facsimile of that letter :
