Gleann Dhé at Eas Dé

Sketch map of the Cairngorms showing Gleann Dhé at Eas Dé

  • Eas Dé - means waterfall of Dee, with Linn of Dee apparently a Scoticisation rather than an Anglicisation
  • Geldie Gate - is the the locked gate across the estate road along the north bank of the Dee towards Gleann Gheallaidh
  • Creag Phàdruig – means patrick’s rocky hill – the farm (ruins) taking its name from the rocky outcrop above
  • Allt Creag Phàdruig – means burn of patrick's rock
  • Allt Leth-allt - meaning burn of the half slope is a reference to the west bank of the burn being significantly steeper than the east bank, and apparently giving its name to the corrie above.  Coire Allt Leth-allt - means corrie of burn of half slope
  • Dail a’ Mhorair Bheag – means little haugh of the nobleman - the farm (ruins) taking its name from the 'smallest part' of the haugh on which it stands
  • Allt nan Leum Easain - means burn of waterfall leaps
